CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS 2007 Unfortunately the first day of the Club Championships had to be cancelled due to the very heavy rain which fell between 6.30 and 8.30 in the morning and it was decided that the Championships would be held over a single round on the Sunday.
Sunday dawned dry and fairly sunny and the 86 entrants all got away between 8.30 and 10.00 on a two tee start with the lowest handicaps going last. By now The course was in great condition despite the rain, and congratulations must go to Matt Hawker and his team.
The defending champion, John Clayton, was playing with James Webber and Daren Marcham and it was felt that it was likely that the winner would come from this group. However Martin Millett, Roger Crook, David Mann, Jeff Pickering, David Weinstein-Linder and Sam Morgan all had 75's and all waited to see if they would have a mass play off if the last group could not match them. James had a 76 and Daren a 77 but John Clayton keeping up the form of last year had an excellent 72 and took the title by a clear three shots leaving those on 75 to decide the 2nd and 3rd places on count back.
