The Course
|
Bristol & Clifton Golf Course
The course offers all players unlimited opportunities to complete a round with a real sense of achievement. Natural obstacles include a former quarry and spinneys of trees dotted round the course. Apart from the par threes, there are only two holes that might reasonably called straight - all the rest to a greater or lesser degree, are dog-legs. Although trouble is reasonably well distributed on both sides of most holes, the slicer generally comes off worse than the hooker. It is a true test for all golfers.
The course is never dull but the valley provides an interest of its own. The 13th is a 222 yard par three straight down into the valley. The 14th, a 424 yard par 4, goes up the other side. The 15th, a 293 yard par 4, comes back down to the valley floor and the 16th a 360 yard par 4 goes back up to the main course again. This sounds very easy but within this area there is a wall to cross, a quarry to negotiate and the land is never flat.
A completely new irrigation system has been put in. All the tees, fairways, aprons and greens have automatic watering. So, whilst other courses are like the surface of a weetabix, B&C will have green lush grass throughout.
